Since this is the first recipe I’m posting, I thought I should give you a little background about my cooking skills. If you that’s even what you’d call them. I’m 25 years old and I actually never really cooked until I was about 23 years old. My mom always cooked for us growing up and when she wasn’t there, I’d rely on frozen food. Mostly because I was kind of afraid to use the stove (silly, I know haha) and I think it was from never being taught to cook and lack of confidence. I’ve slowly been learning to cook different dishes and figuring out what I like and changing things to suit my taste. Everything is fairly simple to make and tasty. I am in no way a professional and would just like to share what I make with all of you. Hopefully I’ll be able to help some of you along the way just like others have helped me, too.
So let’s get started!
Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside! This is how I make Oven Baked Chicken.
The ingredients you’ll need are:
- 2 Chicken Breasts
- 1 Egg
- 3/4 cup Plain Panko Bread Crumbs
- 3 tbsp Roast Garlic & Herb Seasoning (I use the Weber brand)
- 1 tbsp 100% Grated Parmesan Cheese (I use Kraft)
- 1 tsp salt
The first step is to rinse your completely defrosted chicken breasts and then brine them. Brining chicken is putting the breasts into a bowl of lukewarm water that completely covers the chicken with 1 tsp of salt for about 15 minutes. This is a very important step if you want your chicken to come out moist.
After brining the chicken, remove the chicken from the salt water and pat dry with with paper towels.
Dip the chicken breasts one at a time in to a bowl with the raw egg scrambled. Immediately dip them into a plate with a mixture of the Panko, seasoning, and Parmesan cheese. Rub the dry mixture into the breasts then put into a casserole dish.
Preheat the oven to 450°F for 15-30 minutes depending on the size of the chicken breasts. You can peek into the oven and see if the bread crumbs look golden brown. If they do, you can cut into the thickest part of the breast and see if it is cooked all the way or not. If you’re unsure, like I sometimes am, you can use a food thermometer to check the temperature. Chicken should be 165°F to be safely cooked.
After you remove the chicken from the oven, let them sit for about 10 minutes. Then enjoy!
Let me know if you try this out!
Love, Lisa 💛
